Wish I didn't have budget problems for my race car!

I wanted opinions based on what's the best. If it's really that good I'll find a way to pay for them - or come up with excuses for why I can't haha
The plot thickens. This is how you mount a Ford 8.8 IRS in a 2nd gen RX7
And here are the axle breakdowns: Top is 2003 Ford Explorer rear axle. I'll need the inner CV from that. Middle is the custom axle shaft, splined to play nice with Ford and Mazda. On the end of it is an outer CV from a Mazda 626 Turbo.
In the diff these things will be placed: That's a new set of 5.14 gears and an Eaton Detroit Truetrac diff.
Now, there's something missing - the carrier. That's because UPS LOST THE berkeleyING THING.
Found a big FC RX7 shop being dissolved. Probably 9 rolling shells and shelves covered with gear.
I walked out with an oil cooler, front control arms with spindles, a steering rack and set of new Tokico adjustable dampers for the princely sum of $100.
The shells all have drivetrains and he wants $500 each. A nearly complete GTU he wants $1000 for. Nothing looks rusty.
I may go back with a trailer...

No, but if you want something I'd be happy to help get it to you. It's in Pittsfield, NH
Cool. Thanks. I'm probably just engaging my Mazda hoarding for no reason....
Did you fabricate or buy that carrier piece?
Thanks for documenting this!
P.s. where did you get the axles?
Ronin makes the carrier mount and provides the axles. They're splined for the Ford inners and Mazda outers.

I picked the wrong time to be closing on a house.
Clearanced things to make room for the radiators. Just a little welding for the mounts and we're money.
There are upsides and downsides to doing things "different"
Because nobody else (that I can find) has done this, I'm the one making the puzzle work.
I spent several hours today making radiator mounts and got things lined up. Decided I didn't like it. I didn't go through all that work to get the fuel cell as low as possible only to put radiators above the damn thing. Back to the drawing board.
A beer and some beard scratching later, I think this is my favorite fix.
This gets the rads mounted about 8" lower than before. A little more clearancing and I'll be able to splay them out just a tad further to make ducting easier.
Same as it ever was - you have to do it a couple times to realize what's really going to work.
Bought myself a new toy today though.
Is there any way you can put me in touch with this shop? I may want to pick up another FC to cage and eventually replace the rally car.
You'll need to log in to post.
