Every now and then, I get a big head and think I've built up a decent skill set. Then I find a thread like this to bring me back to reality. This is awesome. Keep up the good work.
This rocks so much! Has to go down as the best Fiero "kit car" build ever conceived. I hate the fake Ferraris and Lambo kits on a Fiero body, especially when the doors and windshield are obviously Fiero parts but this complete reskinning of the car just looks so right. Love the speedster look, keep it going, we are all loving it!

Thanks! I appreciate the compliment! But, I'm just making this up as I go along. If it wasn't for GRM and the $2000 Challenge, I wouldn't even be in the hobby. There is nothing more empowering than a cheap car to start with! I love figuring out how to do things with my limited skill set and budget.

It could be, I'm still under $1000, and I have all of the Fiero body that I could sell. I'm not going to try to force it under budget, there are things that I want to do that might take me over, but it would be fun to do another Challenge.
I have to admit that when I started on page 1, I was like, "Yeah, right. This is going to be a mess." But by the end of page 2, you've absolutely made a believer out of me. Nice work. I look forward to seeing the final body shape. Speedster FTW.

Ooh I forgot his was under budget!
Attached the lower side body panels. Created these by laying up fiberglass over the edge of a plastic folding table to create a flat sheet with a 90. Then turned it over, screwed the reveal to the table and radiused it over a 2x4 to give them the right rocker panel shape, then locked it in with another layer of glass. Wish I had better photos of the process but it worked better than I expected.
I ship a lot of car parts. Most of them big, bulky, awkward. I've gotten to where I can see the shape and know how to cut, rearrange, and tape a box back together to fit any shape I need it to.
You sir, have done this with two automobiles and I berkeleying love it.
Body is back off the chassis. Feels like a step backwards, but necessary for adding strength to the shell.
