I wear reading glasses under my helmet. I've got some 2.0s for TIG work.
Also, bifocal safety glasses are really cheap and the 1.5s are perfect MIG.

I'm fine with that it's more of the needing more light when you're older if that makes sense. The shadows around puddle are messing with me I think. That said notice I didn't show a picture of my welds yesterday. This is Asa's from today.
While he was welding I put on my #5 shades so I could help as needed.
We had an interesting conversation. He was fastened by how the welds look different from flux core. He said "It's almost like it's wet." I paused wondering what exactly he meant to say and then I said well yeah it is thinking he was talking about the puddle. He was talking about the shininess afterwards.
Finally the done for the day pic. Still have three more crossmemebers for the front subframe but we're getting there.
I'm not sure how much it'll help outside, but my vision is pretty much crap, so I aim a portable work light at the area I'm welding. Helps a bunch when I'm welding inside the garage.

You know I've thought about trying something like that. I'll have to give it a go.
We did a little after lunch but more of things to make it easier for us. First we put up a shade tarp.
Next we finished up the welding cart. I wanted something to hold the bottom of the bottle in place. I think we'll end up doing something for the welder also. I need to fix the front wheels as they don't want to do much wheel things.
I bought some rechargeable magnetic based lights from HF and I aim one of those right where I'm welding and it really helps. I also wear readers under the helmet, and have a magnifying lens on the helmet too!
All of that allows me to actually see what I'm welding, it makes a huge difference!
The first thing I built with my new welder was a welding cart from a hand cart. Still have it 35 years later and it still works perfectly for the job at hand. Being able to roll it around the shop is pretty helpful too, although I doubt mine would roll well on gravel or grass with the small front wheels.
We got distracted over the weekend by small engine projects so not much homework got done. Even today new parts came in for those projects so we didn't do as much as we could have. First we put in more supports for the front subframe. I'm trying to figure out how Ace is holding the torch. It's definately left handed at least from how I do it.
We then did a little tease mock up. The frame rails will end up about 4 inches wider but I love how low the frame is compared to the axle center line.
And a side view.

That poor Audi. :(

Frame table. Once we get the two rails separated we'll tack them to the table in position.

It's free. I can even deliver it. Where do you want it in your driveway?
He knows what he has.
We didn't do much today because of Go Ped temptation. We did get the frame table sitting more level. The bottom rails had sat unsupported on the ends for a while so there was a bow to account for.
We're still here. Seems like we didn't get much done last two weeks. We have been working to get all of our crossmemebers on the same plane. The last two weeks we got them within 3/8ths of an inch so today I hit up Alro Metals for shim material. I was able to find some 1/8th, 3/16th, and 1/4 material in remnants but I needed more so I had to buy a 20 foot stick. It was at this point that I regretted not bring my sawzall.
Here's after our shimming. This gets everything within 1/8th of an inch. We still need to tack them down but right now I need to get welding gas.
A little over a week ago a neighbor a block away put out a basketball goal. I decided that if no one grabbed it by Monday then we'd get it. It was gone last Monday but I noticed that a lady two doors down from him had it. Saw her today and she said she didn't want it because it didn't have a backboard. Alrighty then.
