We are finally getting the residence at the Compound livable, the house is bigger than it looks but for the past 5 years it has been a shell with inner framing only. The roof was getting some weather damage around the chimney, so we ripped the chimney out and fixed the roof properly.

We have added several windows including a wonderful bay window looking over the field, most of the year that is a view to a woods.

Excellent. Is that a Supra turbo on the trailer and a Saab 99 with the tire leaning on it in the first pict?

You, sir, are a busy man between this and getting ready for the Challenge! I envy your energy. One of these days (!!) I'll get up there to lend a hand or two...

It was 4 bedrooms plus an office, but we don't need that many so one bedroom was absorbed into the kitchen, we will be changing the exterior significantly down the road but for now the interior is the goal.

No more stairs for Mrs Aussie to contend with, no more neighbors, lots more space, being at my shop and office instead of driving out a couple of times a day.

We are excited.

Oh and the dog house is going to be across the driveway

Do you lease land to the power company for the wind turbines?

Looking good!

One of the mistakes that I made when I built my house was shimming the sides of the windows too tightly. Now when it's humid, they are hard to open and close. Don't do that.

Seeing as it is a 30 x 30 man cave, the dog fits fine, along with my 60" TV, 2 couches, surround sound, bar, exercise equipment and a GTV6.

I plan ahead.

About 33 years ago I was doing exactly what you're doing now. Each step completed was very exciting and another weight came off as each step no longer required so much of my attention. The worst of it was that the pressure of the constant construction and trying to keep my business afloat (also on that property) became so stressful that I began to have health problems as well as marital problems. My marriage eventually failed and by the time I was finished I was exhausted in such a way that I've never recovered from it. Just a word of warning if you haven't already encountered some of the same things. Take time to relax your mind and body regularly.

It's looking good! I hope you have many years to enjoy what you have built.

Plumbing has commenced, we are utilizing a manifold system to distribute the water then in demand water heaters for each wet area of the house.

Speaker wires are being run prior to the drywall being installed.
