We're home. Today was a great work day. We got a lot more than I expected done. Here's a random picture dump.

Alignment setup.

The official steering wheel straighteninger.

Official tie rod turner.

Getting mud out of the engine bay. I swear we lost at least 10 pounds in mud.

We went pretty aggressive on the alignment. We're 1/4 out on both front wheels.

We picked up our dope yesterday.

I spent all evening working on secret project. It's not as good as I was hoping but I think it'll work. No pictures because I can't test until tomorrow. If I don't mention it again that just means it never happened.

So... is this thing going to corner hard enough to oil starve and blow up the 307? And will it have enough traction to grenade the trans? laugh

probably not, but it won't be for lack of trying.

And will it have enough traction to grenade the trans?

I think that would also require a certain amount of torque. So, probably not.

Some things I just don't want to talk about. Great idea. Not going to work this year.

Moving on.

We got the 1 inch spacer in today.

It kinda looks like the 2 inch spacer but an inch shorter.

Then we decided to do the full throttle adjustment. Thanks to Pete's RV thread we went with the zip tie method.

I think there's 8 zip ties on there but honestly I quit counting.

Had a headlight accident. It flipped down and cut the bridge of my nose. Because I was hanging upside down under the dash it flowed up.

That's it for today.

Do the torsion bars on these cars have keys like the chevy/GMC trucks? If so you may be able to get stupid low in the the front by getting a half turn lowering/raising key or just setting the key to the next step down.

Yes we lowered it as much as the keys would allow.

Choke is wired open using free wire from a harness I found in the Studebaker cache.

TV cable hooked up using metal fishing line I picked up Friday along with ferrels. I used 4 inches and one ferrel.

Timing set and that made a big difference. Learned that I hate the GM engineer that put the hold down bolt where you hit your hand on the exhaust when you lock it down.

Added bonus of our cold air induction system is in place. Used parts from the PO's snorkel.

Hood closes now with a firm push. We needed every inch.

Only thing left on the list is:

Lock down tie rods.

Bed in brakes.

Sometimes I even amaze myself.  Finished budget, receipts, and info sheet.  All I have to do is print them out.  No more rushing at midnight on Thursday night at the hotel.

Final budget is $688.58
