I owned the 1997 version of that truck ( that color) in 4x4
drove it 371,xxx mi before the dreaded tin worm put an end to it. It was pretty rust free for 15 years but the last 5 Minnesota salt started to show up damage. In that mileage it never let me down and I spent only a little over $1000 in repairs ( other than normal replacements and maintenance.
The engine still had new oil pressure and ran without noise or using oil. The original engine starter transmission, rear end, etc.
It got 17 mpg in the city 19 on the highway and hauled home my house. Seriously 55,000 bd ft of Timbers and hardwood. Some in the bed and the rest on a trailer. It hauled home 4000+ pounds of Granite stone in the bed per trip from the quarry. Wiring plumbing tools equipment and misc.
In addition it made many trips to Florida, California, and various race tracks around the country towing the race car in a tandem axle enclosed trailer.
20 years I had that truck. It earned it’s cost three times over, in that I worked for three different companies who paid me enough per mile to pay for it at least three times including all maintenance fuel cost insurance registration etc. plus I probably made a nice profit.
I expect you’ll have a similar experience. They are that good!

Thanks! Really puts into focus just how much has changed.
Well deserved. Your welcome.
and another example why my '91 ext cab sits on stands awaiting my undivided attention......DBd13 you've nailed this!!!!
Thanks guys.
Working towards interuor rehab next. After i replace the sending unit, and take care of some other minor things.
And find time.
Damn that looks good man!
Budget first:
previously was 2534.41
new money:
headliner material: 19.59
spyder headlights: 76.99
dash cap: 210
new total: 2840.99
my test driving and tint revieled a flaw with the cheap ebay headlights I ordered. They sucked at night. Horrible beam pattern, and useless. Couldnt have that. So I ordered what I should have in the first place, the spyder glass headlights. The lens is glass, the reflectors metal. The backers fiber reinforced plastic, etc. much. Much higher quality pieces. The benefit is the fit better too. At the same time, I tossed in some cree switchback LED bulbs, and the clear corners that I used krylon stained glass paint on to turn orange. Came out nice!

lights need some more aiming, but far better already.
Also finally got my new hitch mounted.

getting ready to do interior and call it done!
Interested in what you think of the lights once dialed in.
I'd love to retrofit mine, but don't have the time right now. I have a set of Morimoto D2S 4.0 projectors with no home, and I'm willing to cut up the core support to make them fit.
Ive mirumoto swapped every car ive had in the last 5 years. However, i seriously dobt think the gmt400 headlights will allow an attractive appearing swap.
Bruh, I know that you know, but now you know that I know, that hitch looks like ass. Tough love and all. I hope it's coming off for cleanup and paint. ;-)
It looks great!
Hows your finger doing? If it scars you have to come up with a good drinking story for it...

I was thinking that the hitch just didn't look right with how good the rest of the truck looks.

What all are you hoping to fix with the dash all apart? I forgot what issues you had there.
Truck is looking better and better.
I had an intermittent no blower fan issue, weak air flow out of the dash Vents, and Incredibly busted up Dash, and a plug the AC condensate drain. Hopefully all those problems will be corrected. While I'm in there I'm also cleaning it and putting a dab of Dielectric grease and all the electrical stuff

Dash fixed. Part way back together. Tomorrow is another day....
this thread reminds me of how much of a slacker I've been this year.
