Enabling at its finest.
Last week the tire/wheel came in and Ace put it on. I screwed up and ordered only half of a clutch kit with it but the other half came in today. We (mostly Ace) put it on this evening. It really changes the scooter. One you can roll it while off. Some resistance but not a locked up wheel type resistance. Starting off it still helps to kick the first few feet but the midrange feels great. We discussed it and I guess the engine can go to higher rpms while slipping the clutch to give that acceleration. My biggest issue was coming to a stop. I had gotten so used to engine braking and then the stall at the end that I've never really used the brakes. On my first full stop muscle memory failed me and I ended up jumping off to stop. Guess I need to practice actual brake usage. We need a 3rd bearing support and a new spindle to go with it. Also need to mod the gas tank mounting as the spindle is pushed further to that side with the clutch kit.

I'll let anyone ride it with a helmet and the understanding that it's at their own risk.
After we worked on the scooter last time we realized that it needed some upgrades. We ordered a 3rd bearing support, a bigger spindle, and a new gas tank because we kept having to mod things to deal with our non factory tank.
Here's the 3rd bearing support. This supports the end of the spindle with a bearing instead of a nub from factory.
Here's the gas tank being put in. You can also see the clutch between the engine and the frame on the right. She's got a fat butt now.
All complete.
The top speed is now 24mph. It's a little squirrelly at that speed. When I did my test run I went to adjust my grip and it moved over a foot. Here's a video of Ace doing his run.
We had a run there where the scooter broke just about every trip. Since last week's upgrades Ace has been taking it on longer trips without incident. Today he did an 18 mile round trip to visit a friend. He pulled it off with only one fall and sent me pictures along the way.
I think we can say that this scooter is now in maintain mode vs project mode.
What kind of gas mileage is it getting? Or is he carrying a Jerry can with him for 18 freaking miles on a 2 stroke scooter!!!

Damn now you gotta make me do math. He said the half way point was about half a tank. That puts us at 18 miles/1.5 liters. I totally didn't google that to find it's getting about 45.4249414 Miles per gallon. He did take a spare 1 liter bottle of mixed gas with him.
Well i have taken my post fall nap, actual ride was around 25 miles with my mc'donalds trip included + detours, i only carried .5 litres of extra fuel, pretty sure i didn't even need it. Climbed a 2 mile 75 foot tall bridge with ease!
