Shame it's an automatic, but not something you see every day: https://www.facebook.com/share/gVa9HDZo6AQmuxMm/?mibextid=79PoIi

The wagons only came in automatic iirc. Most ended up in the hands of younger folks and mitsubishi wasn't the king of reliable cars so um yeah.

Wonder if the wheelbase is the same as an Evo...

I'm by no means a Mitsu expert, but what is up with those wheels? Particularly the front.  Just wrong offset, or is this the Teins being blown out?

I've owned mine since 2009. It's been a very reliable daily driver for me, my wife and now my son. I bought it with 60k miles, currently at about 179k, with no regrets.

It's not at all efficient, 23 mpg is typical. I would love to have a manual transmission and limited slip, but fortunately the automatic transmission is very robust and the gear ratios are well matched to the torque peaks of the engine.

At one point I acquired what was intended to replace it, a stock, same year WRX wagon. The Subaru was faster and had a manual transmission, but otherwise it sucked in every way possible, body roll was much worse, and lots of stupid stuff went wrong. I didn't want to modify it, but I learned that you would spin a bearing if you didn't change the oil pan and pickup before doing laps on a track. When the check engine light went on again, I'd had enough. I couldn't get rid of it soon enough.

The Lancer was surprisingly good at autocross. With the stock suspension, front swaybar disconnected, and a set of firestone firehawk tires it was the perfect instrument for the 2021 Florida State autocross championships. The high was in the 40s, and it was drizzling, so I left the Miata home and drove the Lancer to a second place finish in H Street. I had a two second lead, going into the last runs, and a ninth generation civic SI picked up five seconds to beat me. Despite never having good tires, or doing anything to the suspension, I was competitive in every local event I drove it in.

I've owned more fun cars, I've owned faster cars. For reliability this is probably one of the best cars I've ever owned. I would definitely buy another one, except for the fact that they're getting pretty old and, as stated, most of them probably haven't been well cared for.

In reply to calteg :

Yes. They made the evo 8 and 9 wagon off this chassis. They just didn't bring it to the US.

Blown or slammed on Teins. Those are the stock wheels. There is a small front end hit too. I wonder if the bag blew and that drove the ugly wheel choice.

So someone also put in evo 8 seats into it as well. Honestly those are worth a third the cost of the car if they cleaned up well. I would totally buy this if close for no other reason than to get the recaros and the 4g69 to swap into my mirage track car.
