It looks like I jumped to the 6 speed part, that's my bad. But the ad does say a manual transmission, but I'd take your word first.
They did do a manual in the lower spec cars in Euro for certain. Like the SL320 and similar. It may be the automatic with the manual shift option which is what happens most of the time on Craigslist. Even if it was a manual you would not want it, those things made insane power for the time and Mercedes does not have the best history with high power and manual transmissions.
