My daughter moved down to jacksonville recently and is now in need of a cheap car.
Anyone know of a $1000 (or less) car available in that area?
Doesn't need to pretty, just needs to be reliable for a VERY long daily commute.

In reply to Stampie (FS) :
I appreciate it. I'm pretty much sold out of all my cars because of the stimulus. I'm up in chicago, or I'd be running to auctions to find her something.
In reply to Brian :
There's tow yard auctions here. ASAP towing is the one I used to go to a lot. The owner will nickle and dime you but not sure how you feel about her buying from one. If there's one on a Friday I can go help best I can. I think their Whitehall location does Fridays.
In reply to Stampie (FS) :
Appreciate the offer, but it turns out they need a car NOW. Cab't wait until friday. Call came in while I ws talking to her.
They're going to look at an 86 firebrd in a little bit. IF she buys it, that will make 2/3 of my kids with birds (plus me).

1.5 hrs each way is my understanding
In traffic or driving all the time?
I was couriuos what can be found in Jax for less than $2k.
I found this 2010 Kia Forte w/ 195k asking $1600 to be the most interesting.
Can the daughter drive a manual trans? So few people can that the super deals to be had are on manual trans cars
Looking at Craigslist and saw this:

Up the budget and I'd look at this '09 Prius w/ just under 200k miles asking $2.2k I like these cars and understand them. Parts are plentiful and cheap if it does need repairs but if it doesn't need repairs it will return 44 mpg every day.
This $750 Ford Probe w/87k claims to need motor work. I'd like to know more.

tried to get her to take an 05 caravan, that was a no go for her. no minivans. My first DD was a minivan.
I drove about 2 hours each way in a Zx2. Great cars
And the manuals are harder and harder to find because they are really fun to drive.
Hell, I'd buy that
