I'll take, "All of the above." For $300, Alex.

Wow...that's the cheapest way into an expensive benz.  I like the functionality of the R-class, but I don't want to even touch a MB Diesel.

The last time I thought buying one might be a good idea I found this thread:

They Said it Can't be Fixed - A Journey to the Inside of a Mercedes Bluetec

The only thing that has going for it is that it's not an AdBlue system, so the tank heater and pump can't fail.  But, don't worry, it's got the same terrible lubrication system and the EGR to push soot through the intake.  Plus, it uses the more-bad seals on the oil cooler so it's guaranteed to leak there.

Now, if you tore that baby down and parted it out, you could make a mint.

When my wife and I were looking for an R our neighbor, who worked for MBNA, said to stay away from the diesel ones.

Always liked the old MB diesels, especially the wagons. Worked on a few with friends, but never managed to own one.
love the look of that one, but know absolutely nothing about them. I assume 3.0 V6 and fwd?

not a combo I'd want to work on in my gravel driveway!

It should be AWD.

Ah, not surprised. Even worse, though.

But most folks that bought one of them would not have to worry about doing maint. in their primitive yard! laugh

You get the OM642 3.0 turbodiesel with the 7? speed transmission with the 4Motion AWD system in that.  I am happy to share with you my tales of woe, but these are not like the old ones....  To be fair, when it's running, it's a really strong motor and the AWD system is fantastic.  But it gets expensive fast.

Seems one of the car makers offered casinoonlineflash.it/casino-recensioni/starvegas this option on new cars some time ago…don’t recall it making that big of a splash.  :)

I really don't understand how the German auto makers have lost the plot so badly.

A late-'70s / early-'80s MB diesel would run (albeit slowly) for half a million miles.

German cars used to be really expensive, but they lasted forever.  Now they're really expensive, but nobody can afford to own one for longer than the warranty.
