PORSCHE 993 GT-1R TRIBUTE RACE CAR

Here is an opportunity to own a one off spectacular Porsche GT1 tribute car which is a terror on the track and a true attention getter. This well-known racer was featured in Excellence magazine (December, 1998) and was invited as one of the 60 premier cars in the  2021 and 2022 American Speed Festival held at M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan.

This Porsche 993 GT-R1 Tribute is a vintage race car that is fully sorted and ready for the track!  It was custom engineered in 1997 with a full tube 1.5” dia. X .120 wall DOM chassis and roll cage fabricated in California. The car is based on a modified 1973 Porsche 914 tub (Serial No. 4732901876) with a fiberglass Porsche GT1-inspired body by Randy Beck, with an original build cost exceeding $175,000.  This car is one of a kind, with a single center seat position, and a mid-engine layout. Components include a high powered Porsche 993 twin plug engine with a Steve Wong custom ECU tune chip, a Hewland DG300 5 speed dog transmission, 993 front & rear suspension assemblies with mono-ball spherical bearings, and specially engineered front & rear anti roll bars. The vehicle weighs only  1790 pounds. It has a 15 gallon fuel cell, is 37” high x 82” wide, and includes BBS 3 piece wheels (completely disassembled, new fasteners and resealed, 2021), front 16” x 11.5”, rear 16” x 14”,  Front tires: Hoosier or Goodyear 23.5” x 11” x 16”; Rear Tires Hoosier or Goodyear 25.5” x 14” x 16” with 1” hub-centric spacers on rear wheels.

Original log books include entries from the 1990s running Western tracks at Sears Point, Second Creek, Thunderhill, Willow Springs, Laguna Seca, California Festival of Speed, Las Vegas, and Buttonwillow with approximately 35 logged hours. In 2021/2022, after an extensive refurbishment with updates and improvements by the current owner, the car ran Midwest  tracks at Gingerman, Grattan, Waterford Hills, PittRace, Nelson Ledges, and the M1 Concourse American Speed Festival. The car has 33.3 hours logged since the recent  refurbishment and upgrades.

The sale includes a brand new set of Hoosier slicks, 2-23.5 x 11 x 16 and 2-25.5 x 14 x 16 (2022), various Hewland gearsets to change transmission ratios and a set of tall boy wheels and tires for long distance trailer hauling and wintering. Provenance includes an extensive library of photos, specs, PCA logbook, component build documents and invoices, very detailed service logs, and a feature article from Excellence Magazine (Dec 1998) that details the complete build. All documents are available by e-mail to seriously interested parties.
