I just returned from 10 days and 1500 miles in my 1979 Fiat Spider 2000. I drove down through Austin to the Gulf of Mexico in Texas and had a blast along the coast. I lost one wheel weight from the alloy wheels and a center cap on some of the rougher back roads but other than that the car ran like champ through both good top-down weather and a couple of rain storms. The rain washed away the salt cystals that were forming on the bodywork. I need to change the oil and give it good cleaning before the next run. Cheers

I took my brother, a Fiat owner, as co-driver and two other sportscar owners met us there. They were all from the northern snow lands and appreciated thawing out and seeing some wild coastal storms. The two fly-ins rented a convertible Sebring -boring but comfortable. Everyone tried out the Fiat and returned smiling. The other two had owned a TR-6 and Spitfire and this brought a flood of old memories and our past 20 years of sportscar weekends. We visited the aeronautical museum in Galveston and toured a WWII submarine and destroyer/escort to stay with the vintage theme. We topped off the sightseeing with the Titanic display and more than few brews and some seriously good seafood. Now back to my originally scheduled program. Cheers Ron
