A friend of mine, who is not a car guy, just asked me an interesting question. For long and convoluted reasons, he is looking for a restored Studebaker.

I gave him some general advice (get a PPI; get documentation, photos, receipts; that sort of thing).

I have a couple of specific questions for you, though. Are there dealers who specialize in this sort of thing who are trusted/reputable? My budget doesn't lend itself to buying restored examples, and my tastes don't run to old American iron, so I am out of my depth here.

Second, how would you go about setting up a PPI -- are there reputable services, or is it a networking sort of thing (in which case, I may be looking for a Studebaker inspector some time soon!).

Thanks in advance for your help.

I would recommend contacting the various Studebaker clubs. That's a source for purchasing or finding someone capable of checking out a candidate.
