For the 700 folks out there:

Gulp.

A friend and I have located 2 (count 'em, two) 700 LSs in goodnews/bad news condition.

  1. First question: VINs are as follows: 851341 and 833796. What year(s) would they be?

  2. The engines and transaxles are GONE. Anybody know of any?

  3. How about windshields?

For once I am at a loss for BMW info. What say ye?

Are you sure those are the entire VINs? You can plug the VIN into http://www.realoem.com/ to find out more about the cars but it requires seven digits - six doesn't work.

I have realoem and tried it already. ID'd as a Euro E21 315... Unless I'm blind that's all the digits on the plate.

VIN's were funny in the late 50's and early 60's. I am not surprised they don't work on realOEM

The motors were bored and stroked BMW R67 motorcycle engines.

I am very jealous. I have been looking for a 700 for 20 odd years

Before you get too deep I'd make sure you can source the windshields - a real killer for classic cars.

I'll bet they are...but glass in one is intact. The second car may well turn into a parts car anyway.

You need to host them on a website like photobucket or flickr.

That would be sooo cool with a s1000rr swap! No reverse but sooo cool, Just mount it transversely and run a driveshaft right off the countershaft. <img src=" photo 146_1004_012010_literbikes_horsepower.jpg" />

In reply to bettyboob58:

Well, I dont think hes meaning that you need to move the thread, he means start a thread int he builds section, and post some more detailed info. Like some play by play action showing progress of the project. The shots you posted on the 30th with a primered body, missing fenders, and a small carbed bike motor are a far cry fromthe last shots, and I for one (Im sure I speak for most of us) would love to see some of the nuts and bolts steps that got you there. This is a pretty cool project on a platform that I never knew existed.

Okay guys I will start a thread and post the build as I get a bit of time in between work and all, these are the pics of when i got the car ,it had fibreglass doors and frontend but to conform to classic car racing i had to change to all metal body and install a rollcage (enjoy)

Awesome car and work!!!!

So, I'm not a big motorcycle guy, but what's bespoke to the car and what is from a stock motorcycle, regarding the drivetrain? Also, how does the power get down to the axle flanges? (I'm probably not seeing it in the photos...)

***Edit: looking again, it'll probably have a sprocket on the driver's side flange, right? No differential?
