I’ve noticed them hauling in crushed cars to be shredded. Nowadays they wrap them in reinforced plastic to keep bits from falling off and causing liability issues.  

Makes it even harder to guess what the smashed blob is.  Used to be that you could tell the Cadillac from the Chevy or Ford.  An occasional VW bug stood out like a sore thumb.  

Not so much anymore. Hard to tell a 20 year old smashed and rusty Kia from a Toyota of the same era.  The occasional Chevy or Ford is about the same shape and size so that’s no help.  Oh rusty pickups still retain enough character to be distinguished apart, if enough is retained that is.
