Unlikely speed

So I was watching this fun clip of the Sopwith cup race: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mbYgF41g5k and other than the fact that the racing is surprisingly good, it's telling how many of the top cars aren't what you'd expect to be remotely quick. A Nash Metropolitan??? A big, honking luxury Jaguar, an Austin A40 and such. Remarkable. And how'd you like to have to explain to your friends how far back your Falcon was?

And I've just now learned that the Metropolitan was a "captive import" so to speak, Austin built the chassis and another British company built the body and they sold it in the US as a Nash. Had no idea. Hilarious to watch it racing with those big Jaguars.
