What performance tires that are road useable (aka not Hoosiers or V710s) are available that will fit 13x7" wheels?

I know of Federal 595, Toyo R88 and Toyo RA1. Any I don't know of?

think that about covers it. This is why I just bought a set of 14's for my daily driver Civic.

Ah 13s, the lowest pit of Tire Selection Hell.

Upgrade to 14s or 15s if you can, each is a big improvement in selection.

But Spitfires look like crap on 14s...

Not really. 15's maybe... but 14's don't look too bad.

To be honest, one the main issues (IMHO) about putting modern performance tires on a Spitfire is the marginal strength of the suspension and steering components and the stress a set of grippy tires can place on them.

Hubs and the axles are the main weak points IIRC.

Do you know of anyone other then these guys that offer axles and hubs?

This is one of the reasons I changed the 13" on my Opel GT to 14". Not much selection in 13". Only choices are compitition only rated race tires or generic all-season, nothing street performance orientated. Even 14" are getting slim but still have some selection of street performance.

Working on the Spit now or get another one?

Just did a couple little things to it. Hopefully now that life is starting to settle down after moving and getting married and stuff I can back to both the Yugo and Spitfire more.

Vredentein has a "high" performance tire for a high performance price.

The selections in 14 inch aren't much better.

Yeah I know. Two cars I have are 13 wheels, another car I have is 14" as well as the car I co-drive at autocross. I like anti-dub wheels.

About how wheels 'look' on cars, remember there are some design traits that make a wheel look bigger or smaller. For example, the farther the spokes end from the actual edge of the wheel, the smaller it looks. Im sure there are plenty of 14s that look like 13s.

And if you go 14, there is this great thing called a 185/55/14 Federal 595. Maybe not the greatest tire ever but the size/proportion/price and general sporty leanings are all there!

Canely Classics.com (in the UK) has some stuff as well (also not inexpensive). http://www.canleyclassics.com/?xhtml=xhtml/homepage/home.html&xsl=homepage.xsl

I found a semi local place that has 13" 595 for $100 a piece . . . Not quite challenge price for my usage.

The size Vigo mentioned come in at ~$50/tire, but shipping is a whopping $95

Stick with 13s, man. I'll go out and look and see what brand mine are as I forgot. I got them from gbcarparts for about $130/tire.

Would a tire sized 215 fit on a 6" wide wheel?

I think a 215/60 would, with some minor bulge. I've run 215/60/15 on 6.0" wide rims and liked how it looked.

I don't think I have room for a 215/60. I would need a 50 series as the sidewalls on a 60 might hit the fender.

For your civic, i think you're probably right. a 215/60/13 is a 23" tire. You probably cant go much over 22 with your lowering.

23" tire sounds tiny to some people but once you get into the sub-2000lb cars AND lower them, that's actually kinda big. Even my stock Honda Insight (not lowered) doesn't like a 23" tire (rubs).

Spitfire tires measure out to a bit over 22" which is why I often ponder installing 185/60-14 Star Specs... 22.7"...

Have you considered using 185/60-13's? They run about 21.5" tall and fit really well on 7" rims. On a car as light as your Civic, it's a piece of really tasty cake. The combo worked well on my EF Civic and it weighs a few hundred pounds more than yours. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Federal offers the 595 in that size. I don't know if they're sold stateside or how much they cost, but they're out there.

If anyone comes across a place that sells the 175/50/13 federal in north America, I'd love to hear about it. I'd like a set for my mini
