I am pretty sure it is the same mechanical bits, with more aluminum components on the Prius.

Should work. Gen2&3 Prius are 5x100 with 12x1.5 stud and 54.1 center bore. 2008 Corolla is the same.
Further, here is a Prius wearing Corolla wheels
Scion tC wheels are a popular Prius upgrade
and, people put the same Scion tC wheels on Corollas
Dunno about the corolla, but I can confirm that 14" NA miata wheels clear my Prius C without any issues
