Hey Everyone,

Wanted to get input on my 02 Ranger and fuel filter swap after a fuel pump change. The last time I changed the fuel filter I just pulled the fuse for the fuel pump, started the truck and let it run out of fuel, than changed the filter. Since then, the fuel pump went out and the shop that fixed it didn't drop the tank, they put in a different style pump. So today I went to change the filter, but after I pulled the fuse the truck wouldn't start. Is the fuel pressure lower with this type of pump? Can I just pull the filter? Thoughts?

Thanks in advance..... Dan

Just pull the line off the filter. You'll get very little out. I've never heard of running the vehicle out of fuel to do so. You could always relieve fuel pressure via the schrader valve on the fuel rail as well.

Thanks, I had read a long time ago that the fuel system was pressurized and it needed releasing before working on it. Sounds like it's a non issue so I'll get this swapped out.
