My first car was a beat down '87 EGT, so I'll add...

These are best as nippy commuters in stock form, particularly if you like burning the inside front tire off constantly. I was beaten mercilessly in H Stock.

A heap of negative camber all around and much stiffer and shorter springs would REALLY wake up the handling. Brakes aren't great, but I never played with aftermarket in that respect, I'm sure there's a cheap fix.

The body is in really good condition and runs well, might as well just drive it as a Winter beater and call it done. Thanks for all of the cool info though ! TC

That is not what I said.

My biggest issue with the 1st gen Escort was the huge amount of toe change in the rear suspension with travel. I'm not sure anything can be done with that (other than severely limiting the travel).

Easy fix for the rear suspension: cut everything behind the driver's seat out of the car and bolt up a 4.6 Lincoln Continental drivetrain complete with the front-wheel-drive suspension. Maybe the handling wouldn't then be described as "better" but it could certainly be described as "more interesting".

Did you say "Easy fix"?

Cut a thing out, weld a thing in, how hard can it be?

I have an '86 EXP Sport Coupe with rotted out rear suspension. It needs this treatment.
