Shark vs. Dyson

These brands are both popular. They have some of the best models on the market. That is why the purchase decision should be based on your needs and budget.

1. Suction power

Each of them has a different strength of suction. They measure it differently, too, so realizing what is best is sometimes hard. Let’s compare them.

The Dyson brand defines the vacuum’s suction in air watts (AW). Meanwhile, Shark counts the watts. (Manufacturers from the U.S measure devices by watts, while for European manufacturers, the standard is air watts.) Do you want to get a machine with satisfactory performance? If so, the uprights from Dyson, at about 100 air watts, should be your choice. The suction power of the Absolute V8 is up to 115 AW.

On the other hand, many Shark units have a range of 500-2000 watts. The Shark HV322 comes in at 500 watts.

2. Features

An articulating base plate is available in Dyson vacuums. Thus, you do not have to manually adjust from bare floors or hardwood floors to carpeting. The plate is generally capable of moving up and down automatically into position. For Shark machines, you need to manually change the height of the plate or the brush roll. For more current units, you can do this by pushing a button.

In addition, some Shark vacuums have a canister and a handheld choice apart from the upright. Some uprights from Dyson do not come with the option of converting into a hand vacuum.

Plus, the Dyson brand includes several fancy tools. The hose is far longer in comparison to those of the Shark. Meanwhile, Shark vacuums have some features that are not included in Dysons. For example, the HV322 features LED headlights.

3. Cyclone technology

A piece of good news is that these two brands have recently released devices with this technology. That means the dirt spins inside the unit. That is why the vacuum will not encounter frequent clogging during use. However, Dysons have some advantages, as their new products come with two tiers of radial cones and operate better in this area.

4. Price and warranty

Dyson provides a warranty from two to five years on its vacuums. Meanwhile, Shark delivers a guarantee of around five to seven years.

Though Dysons are expensive, their warranty is excellent. According to many customer reviews, cleaners from this brand are worth the cost and are durable. For Shark models are less pricey. In general, if you wish to select a unit based on the price, Sharks are favorable. Meanwhile, Dyson machines deliver excellent value if you are willing to spend more.

Dyson V8 Absolute vs. Shark HV322

1. Dyson V8

It is among the most favored products from Dyson. The model is one of the best lightweight cordless cleaning machines on the market. Many vacuum cleaners without a cord are restricted by short power unit life. However, this item features a long battery life.

Because it is a top-rated produce in the popular V8 range, its cost may be a concern. We can say that it is well worth your investment, though. As a bonus, you will receive multiple tools with the product.

Note: You can consider the differences and similarities between the Dyson V8 Animal vs Absolute. The Animal has a lower price and comes with some features that are similar to those of the Absolute. For example, both feature a digital V8 motor, direct-drive cleaning head, max power mode, handheld mode, 40-minute run time, whole machine filtration, docking station, and hygienic dirt ejector. While the Animal does not have a soft roller cleaner head, its counterpart does.

Pros:

  • One of the most lightweight vacuum cleaners -- it weighs 5.75 pounds
  • Extended run time of up to 40 minutes
  • Powerful HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) filtration which manages to capture harmful allergens and produce fresher air
  • Soft roller cleaner head for effective operation on hardwood floors
  • Impressive dirt emptying mechanism
  • Cordless for hassle-free vacuuming
  • Possibly one of the most robust vacuums without a cord on the market

Cons:

  • The cost probably will not please incredibly budget-targeted users

2. Shark Rocket ultra-light HV322 vacuum

The Shark Rocket has useful features and additional accessories. Its suction power is excellent. It is a lightweight corded cleaning machine with superb performance. Products from this brand are famous for never losing their control. It is portable and does not cost much.

Pros:

  • Light weight
  • Powerful suction
  • Lower price than the V8 Absolute
  • Secure storage thanks to wall mount
  • Plenty of helpful accessories for easy cleaning jobs
  • Five-year limited warranty

Cons:

  • No HEPA filter

3. Similarities and differences between the two units

How about cleaning performance with pet hair? The V8 works better than the HV322 when it comes to grabbing fur. It has gained a lot of positive feedback about its effectiveness in this regard. As the Dyson has two cleaning heads, it performs impressively not just on carpets (even deep ones) but also on hardwood floors.

Both of them have washable filters that are easy to clean. Still, the Absolute has the famous HEPA filter, with better delivery of air quality.

Also, the V8 is more lightweight than the Shark. Though the Shark stick vacuum is not heavy, it is nearly twice as heavy as the Absolute. That said, both will bring you great comfort and convenience.

Furthermore, both can collect large and big particles. However, the HV322 does a better job on stuck-on stains.

For repair requirements, reportedly, about 5% of Shark uprights required repairs as opposed to around 12% of Dyson vacuums. The Truepet has a five-year warranty while the Dyson generally offers a little more satisfying product service.

In addition, the HV322 has a 30-foot electric cord. This is helpful if you will be cleaning for longer than 60 minutes.

The bottom line

The owners of these cleaners are generally satisfied with their purchases. If you compare them in size, the choice will be based upon your personal preference. Do you want to get something that you can comfortably carry around for a long time while you are spot cleaning? Or do you not like cords? Then, the Dyson V8 Costco may be a better option. For other factors, consider your needs. Both of the machines can tackle pet hair well. They can also operate on hardwood floors and carpets.

So they have them for canoes?

Outdoor covers are the most flawed, shortsighted concept ever. Wind causes them to move against the paint. Rubbing against the paint without lubrication is never a good thing. They hold moisture in and prevent drying via radiant heat from the sun shining through the windscreens and window glass. So in the end they cause interior and exterior damage.

Wow,  that’s cheap.  I’ll keep it in mind.  I use outdoor covers on some cars and they are definitely better than nothing.  Some better than others of course.
