the ongoing saga of my disco continues. I have finally traced my overheating issues to a clogged radiator. This is a brand new radiator I bought along with my engine (along with all the hoses, belts, and thermostat.

We all know how I had oilpump issues with the new engine.. well, the sloppiness of the build is now apparent with all the permatex and hardened gasket sealer that I have been flushing from my radiator.

Right now, it barely has enough thermal capacity to keep my disco cool while going down the road, and has -no- thermal reserve to keep it cool at an idle. I am running a cooler 85c thermostat and running down the road she is running at 95ish and will creep up over 100. People keep saying not to worry, "it's within specs" but I know it isn't.

As it is.. Atlantic British has not gotten back to me on replacing this brand new radiator that their sloppy builders have clogged. Most I have gotten is "I have forwarded your email to the General manager" and all other emails have not been acknowledged. So I think I am done with them.. just going to write off the couple hundred I paid for the radiator and go aftermarket.

So.. here is the question. I want a better than stock radiator. I use my disco for hauling my boat around and a small trailer. I might even take it off into the pine barrens this year. I have seen several for off-roading, but I do not know what to get. I also want to do electric fans instead of the water pump mounted one. Anybody have any suggestions?

Any good radiator shop should be able to build you one.

There was a 70s K5 blazer that some people have used the radiator out of (all aluminum)
