Nice, E46 M3 track project? I think I'm on my 8th BMW at this point, 9th if you count the BMW-engined Range Rover as a BMW. I'm only 24 though, so I have many more years to acquire more cars ;)

Agreed! I love my bright red wagon. I've gotten more compliments on my wagon than any other car I've owned, like random people on the street will come up to me when I park.

Andy Neuman wrote: If you ever wanted to sell the 540i touring to someone that would take it to the $2018 challenge I am your man.

I'm flattered, but I'm keeping my 540it for as long as I can. I have so much that I want to do to it— finish the rear suspension overhaul, do a full black interior swap, swap in a 6-speed manual, swap in an M5 LSD, and more.

I eventually want to start taking it on the track because why the heck not. I'm sure it'll be very amusing to see a big red wagon on the track.

I guess if we can accept people who rebuild AMG minivans and Lamborghini Jalpas in their garages, your can join the club too.

A white or red 540 touring with a tan interior and a manual gearbox would definitely have a place in "Type Q's dream garage".

Yeah, they even help me out on quite a few occasions.

You sir, have come to the right place. Only into that 944 for a grand? You've got one thousand dollars and just shy of 3 months to get it ready for the Challenge! If you're gonna GRM, you might as well jump in with both feet...

From a long time poster and short time lurker, there is no such thing as not GRM enough.

If you were brave enough to read the whole R63 thread you deserve a damn medal.
Come on in and overshare about your cars. We love cars.

Thanks! Wagons are the best, especially for daily driving. My wagon has a nice V8 and fits so much stuff in, all while handling like a regular car. It really is the best of both worlds. I'm disappointed at the lack of love for wagons in the US nowadays...

Well now you're giving me bad ideas ;) I'll start a thread about my 944S so you guys can hold me accountable to actually fixing it up. Aside from the no-start issue it seems to be a solid car— no rust, fairly straight body, decent interior.

I absolutely loved that thread, and I've read many of em— the Grosh build, the R63 build, and Fergus. Do you have a thread for your 964? I love that generation of 911.

What's funny is that while reading your R63 thread I was actually thinking about getting an E63 or something similar. Your engine rebuild actually looked like a blast, I'd love to do something that comprehensive instead of just replacing chain guides and rod bearings, haha.

The 911 does have a thread I haven't posted anything in so long I had to do a Google search to find it.
It needs to go on the lift for a valve adjustment and some other maintenece. Honestly, taking apart the R63 was equal parts fun and terrifying. Having the opportunity to take apart something cool was really fun, the financial consequences of putting it back together incorrectly was terrifying. I don't want to do it again, but I would.

Welcome. All sorts of people here, some of us mostly live vicariously through the rest of you who actually build cool things.

I joined because of a brief mention in the magazine of a sim racing league on the forum, stuck around for everything else.

You may find collective pool of knowledge is pretty impressive for almost any topic. GRM as a whole may know EVERYTHING

I've always liked the 16 valve cars. Can't wait to see how this goes!
