Not quite. This one is a 50:50 investment that we're planning on flipping.

Shared luxury purchase with a friend? What could possibly go wrong?

I had some friends in college that went halvsies on a sailboat in Cedar Key. They didn't want to cough up slip fees, so they anchored it somewhat close to shore. One of their parking sports wasn't so great, because the boat became stuck in the sand at low tide, and became completely submersed once the water rose. They were getting increasingly threatening phone calls from some regulatory agency, and therefore had to make the boat disappear. Within three months of purchase, they were hacking up the sailboat with axes and hand saws, throwing the remains in a nearby dumpster.

It could either end badly or amazingly. You never know if you never try.

Those can rape your wallet like nobody's business. I should know, we got a '91 500SL parked outside that hasn't moved for over six months.

At least make sure that the really expensive stuff like the roof hydraulics aren't leaking.
