Oldsmobile 2003 Aurora's more affectionately known as the 'BAR O SOAP'. Rode very well .....saw 135 once and would get mid 20's mpg . I'd have one in a heart beat all things considered....again.

The first 3 generations of Lexus GS are all very plain at first glance but have some very refined styling that is set off with simple mods. Also some very well built cars, first two generations especially so.

Mine is the base model, cloth seats, 3.4l. My son's is the SS and has leather seats. I like mine better. Kinda have to mess with the seat adjustment to get it right, but it rides good to me. My wife is 5'2" and totally readjusts the seat and mirrors every time she drives it, so that's fun. Just got home from Buffalo last Wednesday and it got 32 mpg on one stint. Good tires make a difference also. Maybe I'm weird, I just like it. But hey, I've got two 1998 Dodge Avengers also.

The 3rd gen Accord is also a favorite; I had a nice green EX wagon that is one of my favorite cars I've owned. The coupe does have some excelent lines and the ergonomics in that era of Honda are unrivaled.
Pretty much any mundane car can speak to my soul in the moment, the virtues of almost any car can shine through when you're looking for them. However, since people have been talking about the Yaris, I will say I always notice these on the road.
Also, you don't see them much in the wild these days but I've always liked the Chevy Beretta.

I knew multiple people that had these, and then they just...disappeared. I always get a bit excited seeing one, because they are so rare nowadays. A fun game is to check to see if the gas flap is sagging or not. They all seemed to do that.
My Dad bought a used 1989 Oldsmobile 98 Touring Sedan, looked just like this:
Then my he bought a black 1992 Bonneville SSE for my mom. The olds was my favorite of the two. It didn't look as cool as the Pontiac but it handled better, seemed to be better put together and no one seemed to know what it was. If the SSE had been an SSEi my view probably would have changed though.

Back in the day...I pulled into a Chevy dealer with my '83 Rabbit and test drove the same color Lesabre T-type. It looked so cool for the time. I did not buy it.
I do have a few odd likes. I was only prevented from doing one project because I had so many other irons in the fire at the time. I was offered a Triumph Mayflower, an early Post-war car with horrid little (1200 cc IIRC) flt head motor with a cast iron block and ally head that welded it to the block after a few miles (at the time, mechanics that worked on them made uo hollow bits with teeth so the could cut down the studs to the block and separates the two).
What tempted me was that they shared the heritage of using many parts from the Standard Vanguards that gave rise to the TR3 etc. In other words, you could build a Mayflower and bolt in a nicely tuned TR4 engine, OD trans, rear end and disc brake front end and it would weigh little more than a TR3. I still have a hankering to do this whenever I see a Mayflower... (I also came very close to violating a Riley 1.5 in a similar way using a fully tuned MGB drive train).

Going on record for saying that I love all the "cool" versions of the GM FWD mid-size and full-size stuff from the 80's and 90's. Two that always get forgotten are the 90's Oldsmobile 88 and 98 performance variants: The 88 LSS and the 98 Touring. Both had the same 3800SC as all the other top-line 90's FWD cars. I actually looked for one before I bought my Kia for a daily driver, but there were zero left alive in the Northeast.
If it's an Olds wearing sawblade wheels, you know it means business.
Lincoln MkVII and MkVIII have been mentioned a few times here. Are those really seen as plain old "pedestrian" cars?
I think even some non-car guys around my dad's age remember them as the "Hot rod Lincoln"
Everything Crown Victoria and Mercury Marquis. I passively look for the latest of the GMs as a family travel car, but since we currently own 6 vehicles for 2 drivers, it's been hard to justify haha.
If I spent some time thinking about it, I could probably come up with quite a few. The first one to come to mind would be the Ford Fairmont. Front engine, RWD, Fox platform, performance potential, etc. etc.
