Ford is actually sticking to their guns and only making the Boss 302 for a limited time (11, 12, 13). Get one now before it's gone.

(You know, or wait for the all-new Mustang in 2015, rumored to be released in April of 14...)

If the 2015 Mustang is to be released in April of 2014, I'll bet there won't be a 2014 Mustang. So this isn't really news - "when we stop making this model, we'll stop making this version of this model!"

Ford made MY1996 and MY1997 F-150s and Escorts at the same time in calendar year 1996. Meaning, they produced the new design starting in January or so while still making the old model until September.

Meh, doesn't surprise me. Keeps the special collector's models special since they weren't mass produced for a number of years.

Now, you'll be seeing them on late model used car lots going for more than original sticker because now it's a "collector's item"

Got the news from the early release of the 2014 Mustang order guide, Keith, so yes, 14 models will happen. That said, it's nothing but replacing two paint colors (white and red) with two paint colors (white and red), and dropping the Boss 302. A short-production year (like the 2010) is entirely plausible.

Have they shown the actual 2015 model yet?

In 2012?

Okay, so Ford doesn't think like Mazda or Chevy. Still, discontinuing the halo model for a short model year isn't a big shock.

I wonder how many suckers will overpay for this model because they think the replacement engine won't be better...

In reply to GameboyRMH:

If history tells us anything, at the very least it will be AS GOOD as the current Boss engine or more likely, way way better, IE 440 HP with 30mpg or something of that nature. Frankly, I think we are getting way too much power. Can someone send Ford a Lotus book and explain who Colin Chapman is?

I don't know, the 5.0 was better than the 4.6 replacing it for a while.

Touche! However, If we consider Ford's motor recent (Mods, Colonge-Duratec-Cyclone, 1.9-Zetec-Duratec) motors this has been true for at least 15 years. Hope they continue.

I'm already growing numb to the 420hp in the Mustang.

I'd like to do a Steeda intake and tune, but that $700 would be better spent on more prep for the Miata for next year.

I'm growing numb to the 400 whp in the Targa car, what's your point?

He said we are getting way too much power.

And I vehemently disagree!

You can switch with the 120 or whatever in my PT Cruiser for a few months and then we can switch back. I'll be doing you a favor, really.

You'll need to log in to post.
