Isn't this the engine that eats timing chain guides and requires the engine be removed to service them?

Yes.  However from what I understand that happens far more to the earlier S4 motors vs the later RS4 motors.  I had a chance to buy one of these and bought a B8 S4 instead.  Regret that, if I had the space and money for an RS4 I'd buy one now.  They're really great sedans and the motor sounds amazing with an exhaust.
