First we wanted to say that we had an amazing time hanging out with all of our old friends, and we were happy to have made some good new ones. Every time we go to the challenge we have the best time hanging with REAL people that love cars and are passionate about wrenching!

Now we didn't have much free time to create a neat blog this year, but we thought it would be pretty cool to show the progression of our challenge E30 over the past 4 challenges. The video is about 10 min long and has over 200 photos documenting the car from when we first purchased it to how it looked when it left the $2010 challenge.

I hope you guys enjoy!

That is awesome! Amazing to see all the work (spread out over years) and the progression of the build. Very interesting to see transition of the flares. Nice also to see that you finally got out of that 1 car garage!

I want to reiterate what Jimmy said. We always look forward to the challenge every year, mainly because of the people, and this year was the best yet. We had a great time, and most of all we're thankful for the opportunity GRM and their sponsors gave us to compete in the 2011 UTCC. We WILL be updating the build blog in the near future, documenting the progression needed to prepare it for a Time Trials racing while still keeping it under budget! you can follow us on www.dirte30.blogspot.com. - Carlos

You guys are awesome. One of the reasons we come to the event.

I will post our build site. You and Pat inspired me.

Aaah yes. Have to admit, I didn't watch the whole video the first go-round...I did, however, watch the glassing section over and over :)

hahah yeah I still have nightmares from when we were laying all that fiberglass. Nothing like the entire inside of your house smelling like resin for 2 months!

Great video of a fantastic build. It is great to see the entire evolution of the car over such a long period of time.

I loved walking out the back door of the hotel and straight into this beautiful, purpose-built piece of automotive art; but it was more fun watching it go around the cones.

This is our first of many videos that I will be uploading. This was our second run of the day. I ran a 12.9 on the first run, The car ran better than expected, and it really hooked up well in first and second gears, compared to last year(thanks Andy for the drag setup pointers), I hot lapped it and went straight to the line for run #2. Little did I know that we were going to loose the hood on this run ;) We ended up running our best time at the event, a 12.3 sec drag run at 117 mph. We blew the Head-gasket on the next run(3rd and final)!

Have you ever seen a bunch of people celebrating the fact that their hood got ripped off? Get ready to... (In reality we were happy about our time,...no really we were ;) youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpJ4bBdin9w&feature=player_embedded

Wow, just wow. Amazing and awesome work. Few Q's 1. What are those wheels? Are they wide 5's with adaptors? 2. How does it handle/steer with those wheels? 3. Why did you go to steel flares rather than finish of the glass ones? 4. If you were to do the flares again which would you choose now? 5. What's the exhaust manifold your using for the turbo.

Of and Wow again!

Awesome Pic! Thanks guys, The wheels are Basset wide 5's with custom made centers. It handles like its on rails with the setup. I went with steel because the fiberglass was flimsy and asymmetrical, plus it would have taken too much time & bondo to smooth. If i were to do it again I'd do the steel ones all day long. The manifold is a 524 TD manifold.

That's a great video! I wonder how much MPH you lost from the big sail that started coming up on the front of the car at the 1/8th mile mark!?!?

lol our first run was a 12.9 at 118 mph, this one was 1 mph slower, probably 2 or 3 mph?
