Acura TL type-S with a 6speed
Do you want something somewhat cool, with a turbo, a six-speed, and some sort of modern reliability and features?
'13 Sonic LT Turbos are under $10k now.
How far are we from seeing Fiesta STs in this price range? MS3?

The Fiesta ST is about $15K at rock bottom currently, not too much longer though. As great as they are, they are based on an economy car that will start falling apart faster than a more solid foundation. When the new ST hits, some 2014 models will hit the market pretty low.

I got my son an 05 TL with a six speed. They are a very nice car for the money. Our has 205k miles and drives great.
Acura TL with a 6-speed is a good choice. Accord v6 with the 6-speed if you can't find a TL is decent as well.
MS3's in my area are getting under $10k. My area (Kansas City) is known for over-inflating car prices, though. Might/should be even cheaper for you!
V70 T5 if you dig wagons?
A TSX with the 6-speed might even suite you. A sweet K24, yo!

Other than those, under $10k, there's not really much options for fwd that can be "fun". I've been trying to dump my '08 Accord for the longest time now for something under $10k, but no good options.
So we had a canoe post end up being a decent discussion anyway. Yep, I like this place.
