The Miata (96 NA) sat for a couple of weeks. When I went to move it out the shifter didn't want to go into 1st. Started out in second and as I drove around yesterday it got better to where it shifted "normal". We headed out for lunch and same thing. In the back of my head over been expecting to rebuild the turret. Flying Miata is backordered but sound like that's what I need to do?
In reply to Stampie :
Even without a rebuild kit, you might want to take a look and see if there's any oil in the turret.
I would be more suspicious of the slave cylinder, honestly.
I should check the slave on my NB, it's shifting kinda notchy between 1st and 2nd. Clutch is starting to catch way down near the floor, too.
Hmmm clutch seems to be acting the same. No grinding when pushing harder to go in gear. But a slave cylinder is another Miata check list item.
Oh I'm sure this has nothing to do with it.
Am I the only one disappointed Stampie's car doesn't have an actual turret?
In reply to Wally (Forum Supporter) :
Thanks, now I want a real turret on my car.
Hmmm. Remind me.
What is the special theme for the Challenge this year?
Ill rebuild the shifter AND hydraulics if you let me get those wheels you got from prodarwin.....
In reply to Dusterbd13-michael (Forum Supporter) :
I love you but I love those wheels more.
In reply to Stampie :
So combine two things you love.....
We decided today that the mutant is seriously under tired. Had to try!

I'm a DA. I was typing "I didn't feel so with slicks ..." but then it hit me yeah slicks would help.

Fluid is the clearest I've ever seen..........
I'm going with slave cylinder too, but rebuilding the turret is so easy and makes such a nice difference that I'd do both.
Ok so in typical House of Stampies fashion we haven't done anything other than fill up the clutch master. That level has stayed full but after sitting a few days you can tell the issue is still there. Why fix it when you can spend 30 seconds pumping the clutch before putting it into first gear? Today we went to the store in the Miata and it was bad enough that I actually debated if I could drive all the way back home with a fully engaged clutch. So let's fix this thing. Obviously the slave is the highest chance of being the issue. But do I just go ahead and replace both? Then looking at Flying Miata they have a stainless braided line. I mean just that is worth like 5 hp right?

So get it all or start with the slave?
It is most likely the slave, but with the bundle you know it's all good!
If it were my car, I'd probably be doing just the slave :)
In reply to Keith Tanner :
Alrighty Keith special it is. I see y'all have the turret rebuild kits in stock again.
