1986 Dodge ram 350. Just changed my radiator, have to top off/check my ATF level, but I don't know where to fill or check the fluid. Im new to American stuff but i feel dumb asking the question

Am i missing the obvious?

My guess is you start by taking off that center hump in the interior.

For vans of this vintage most engine work is done from the interior side.

A lot of Chrysler products don't have ATF sticks.  surprise  I know our 2008 Town and Country didn't have one.  PIA

Oil change places buy aftermarket ones.  I think Chrysler dealers can buy them for their shops.

It has been a long time since I have seen a proper Dodge van but by recollection, it is buried where you cannot easily see it.  Look around under the air cleaner snorkus on the passenger side.

Or if you want to get all fancy and scientific, crawl under and trace its path from the passenger side of the trans on up and see where it goes.

Yes, to the left and down of the snorkel.  I hope to take a pic in the am. Just need to remember.

This is correct, it is horizontal there and super long.

I would think it was under the dog house, but this video shows it near the firewall on the passenger side.  FF to 3:00.

The '70s B vans had a short dipstick tube that was accessed by pulling the engine cover, but I'm pretty sure by the mid '80s they went to the extra-long one that you could access from the hood.

Here is mine on my '90 B250.

Note, to reinsert the extra-long dipstick you may have wiggle it (just a little bit)
