I guess I was hoping the unveiling would be about something a bit more immediate, but apparently it's a year out.

Sounds like it'll cost, with incentives, not far off of a post-incentive Model 3 in the higher trim? Bit less range...

It was already clear that it was the XC40; what I really wanted was for them to be doing a V60 wagon EV with Model 3 long range specs...

But then, I'm still grumbling about all the things I haven't quite gotten comfy with about an EV, even though I'm mostly sold on the awesome aspects. I guess I'm just conflicted.

Side note: I think calling it the "Recharge" is a bit dumb. It might nominally sound techy and cool now to some folks, but it's effectively like calling it the "gas station stop" or the "downtime."

Volvo's getting into the EV game now?

Only a matter of time till we see an EV V60.

Maybe.

For $80k.

Well, they say they'll have five EVs (not hybrids) by 2021...

I wonder whether the title I picked reads like someone did an EV conversion. Or maybe this is just how excited folks actually are... cheeky

As Volvo is one of the few car makers that still send the US actual wagons, I'm excited. Sure it's another crossover, but whatever. It looks better than the tiny hatches that barely see 100 miles. This thing appears to actually be usable.

They've had a plugin hybrid XC90 T8 for several years now.   It's only got maybe 15 miles of electric only range, but that's good for taking the kids to school & obtaining that all-important carpool lane sticker.

Volvo is owned by China ,  will these be built in China or in the plant in Belgium ?

I wonder. They're also still building cars in Sweden, and I just read somewhere about building S60s...

Volvo recently built a large plant here in ridgeville sc.  They build a lot of cars here now.
