Maybe... it seems like the really expensive stuff (engine & trans) has been done... and now just needs some sweat-equity. At least that's my optimist's view... would have to see it in person for reality to smack me in the head.

The scary thing is I have the cash on hand to buy this car... but no room to even store it.

Why can we find a $3000 Ferrari, but I can't find a $1000 running project Mini...

I love the way those look.

one of the unloved ferraris... but SO pretty. Guy I know in FLU has a red one. He told me the story of the day he brought it home from Philly. All the way up the PA turnpike there were cops just waiting for him to go speeding past

I'd take a chance on that for three grand.

If that was closer it would be in my lawn instead of his.

In reply to noddaz:

I say use it as a parts car to supply the engine, trans, windshield and other bits for this sweet engineless 308 GT4

Sell the rest of the parts on Ebay you don't need and end up a very low cost drivetrain replacement.

That looks remarkably intact for a car that's been sitting for 15 years. No clue of what it would cost to get it running and make it look presentable, but $3k seems like a good starting point!

For when those brave pills make just buying a Biturbo seem like a sane decision.

I'd almost bet money that the cylinder walls are fully-rusted, along with the cam lobes. At the very least it's all got to come apart.

It's more fun to sneak in with a red NSX or SW20

Just forwarded this on to my boss. He loves buying Ferrari in need of TLC and parting them out. We specialize in these older 308 GT4s and 2 valve/quattrovalve 308s.

When I get around to one of these, I want to drive it, not so much wrench and grind.

This is actually my favorite of the "built by a man with a sheet metal brake" era of ferraris. I would take a Dino 308GT4 over the Magnum PI car anyday.

What I like most about them is how purposeful the intake ducts behind the quarter windows look. Plus they are deceivingly small things.

And the rusty one that is too far away would be a perfect basis for a vintage style racer build.

Handsome cars these

To part out? That is lame.

If I was not up to my eyeballs in projects at the moment I would seriously consider both this and the $8k California one. Talk about jumping in with both feet. Man that would be fun though.
