Sooo I got a fiat 124 1976 with a rx8 rotary in it and obviously the stock 124 rear end is not up to that challenge.  This is first car I've even owned with a solid rear end. So, which rear end to choose? Definitely need a LSD and the car will have about 250 horsepower.

Subsequently how to go about it? I made the subframe for the rotary, is a rear end swap much harder?

has coil springs in the rear, the spring perches look like they would be the hardest part

Ford 9-inch. Big wide one, make the wheels stick out the sides. Then you've got an excuse to add box flares. devil

A Ford 8.8 would be my vote.  A stock one out of a Mustang GT would be more than enough to handle the power you're making, and it's not as big and heavy(power robbing) as a 9 inch.  Stock LSD too.

They also vary in width depending on the year, I would think one out of a foxbody would get you in the ballpark.  Plenty of cheap brake options too.
