Not sure if this has been discussed yet. Ford apparently tweeted this in response to the new musk-mobile. Looks to me like an EV mustang may be in the works and I'm not sure how I feel about that.
I think we may have some folks here who know more than they can share. Discuss:
Strangely I have no problems with an electric Mustang. Although I'd like to see them still making the gas engined ones along side, at least for a while.
I'd like to see GM follow suite as well.
That looks like the slapped a Tron Mustang emblem on a current Chevy Impala.
Are they going to make Mustang an entire separate make a la Ram?

I was actually hoping it would be hybridized with electric motors on the front axles a la Acura NSX for a sick torque-vectoring AWD hybrid Mustang that accelerated like crazy

They've pretty much promised a hybrid mustang by 2020. but the picture above doesn't appear to have enough cooling for an ICE. We'll see what happens. Maybe they are trying to be all secretive like Dodge was before announcing the Demon.

I know, right? Especially if it has that flat-plane 5.2L and carbon fiber wheels from the GT350R
In reply to GCrites80s :
They might as well if it's the only car they will sell...Sad Panda :(
There will be a hybrid Mustang but it won't have a Voodoo motor. Expect to hear more about it from Ford soon.
I just survived a head count change, no way in hell I'm saying what little I know about this.

We'll find out soon enough. In the meantime, speculation is even more fun than Knowing.
It was hard as hell to not talk about hearing how a certain Michigan manufacturer received a bid for certain parts in a certain quantity per year that could only add up to a mass production mid engined Corvette... back in 2016.
That's ONE of the things I may or may not have heard. Apparently there are/were some interesting things in store for a company that may or may not be Jeep, as well. Not sure at this point if those plans are still in the pipeline or will never come to fruition, but... man, just the idea is pretty sweet.

I'm not denying the superiority of that type of drivetrain. But for some reason, and I seriously couldn't explain it if you put a gun to my head, the thought of purely electric gets me way more excited than a hybrid.

Ford was teasing an all electric SUV called the Mach 1 a year or so ago. That got Mustang people all hot and bothered, so they supposedly took the Mach 1 name off the table. But there have been rumors about a Mustang based electric crossover for awhile now and they recently trademarked the name "Mach E", so...my bet is Mustang inspired electric crossover, which also lines up with the Tesla CUV reveal
