Mini Schumi has improved a lot this year, and probably will stay with Haas. Latifi will stay if dad finances Darelton his entire season- he's so slow this season.
those are opinions of mine, btw. Other than the more aggressive talk about Latifi and multiple rookies, I have nothing else.
Thankfully when I went to work this morning none of my drivers had been taken bu McLaren

Nice to see the other drivers make fun of the situation.
Shamelessly stolen from my Facebook Feed
Well we will see how Alpine and Piastri work this out. I think the worst part of this is all the other drivers in the churn of changing seats probably thought they could be secure in knowing what 2023 early this season. Maybe now this stalling of Alpine/Piastri will lead to other driver contracts hitting dates where the teams must lock in the current driver or change while not knowing if Piastri is available.
We will see.
Back to the race. I was surprised by the teams that tried Hard tires. Given the spitting precipitation and track temps it seemed clear that any softs or mediums were the way to go. I guess some teams didn't have lightly used mediums left but a used soft medium soft strategy seemed a good way to go vs hards. Unless you are Williams or Alpha Tauri and did your car setup to work the hards then maybe. Idk must be another fixed tire allocation impact on the weekend outcome.

I can relate to this pic. when I ran a Porsche dealership in the 90's, the manager of the competitor Porsche dealership across town was known as our 6th salesman for the number of pissed off customers we'd get from him who then bought cars from us. He was often "Salesman of the Month" for us!
https://www.reuters.com/lifestyle/sports/mclaren-told-ricciardo-that-piastri-will-replace-him-reports-2022-08-05/
this is Reuters reporting that Danny Ric is out at the end of the season, Piastri is in for 23. Let's see if that holds up.
Curious timing if they announce this during the break for real- just last week McLaren did a q&a with Andrea and Zac for the fans- as if they are doing something to soften the blow for the Danny Ric fans.
In reply to MiniDave :
We had a competitor like that. She drove a lot of people into our arms :)
Danny out at the end of the season is a high probability prognostication.
Would Renault welcome him back? If not him, then who? I would love to see Gasley and Ocon paired up at Renault if only for the national pride.
Zac from McLaren, would have needed board approval and legal team approval to remove Daniel Ric, which it's reporting he is going to walk away with $21 Million and to sign Oscar, who is being sued by Alpine (If he truly did not have a contract this will be thrown out). Meanwhile in indycar Chip congratulates Paulo while taking him to court. It's like a script from a reality Tv Show.
In other news F1 22 game on PS4 is meh.

Are they trying to get DtS ratings?
The FIA contracts board has certified both of the Piastri's contracts, saying he is good to go to McLaren.....
I really think Danny Ricky Bobby will go back to Renault.....I would like to see him kick ass there next season, just because.....
If Aston really does have their stuff together for next season, the mid field fight is going to be intense!
I'd like to see Ricky Bobby avocado go to alpha tauri and gasly go to Alpine.
In reply to wvumtnbkr :
That would be interesting, however Yuki's contract expires this year.
I am beyond curious to see how the contact situation with Piastri irons out. No way Alpine was so lax as to allow the deadline to pass without having something locked down - right?
Between PIastri and Palou, what I would give to be a fly on McLaren's in-house counsel's wall.

I dunno, they were floundering around pretty badly for a couple of days. I don't think Alonso have them any warning, and they assumed their star baby driver was a gimmie. They had to put something out.

Yeah I could see this as just a calculated blindspot. They probably did look around and thought that there was nowhere for Piastri to go AND Alonso kept saying he was on board for more years. So they took the risk to focus on making Alonso work and fully expected a glowing loving post from Piastri's side once they got him announced. If anything this makes me even more curious about what is going on in Renault/Alpine. Ricciardo and Abiteboul leaving seemed interesting as if something more is going on from the business culture side or maybe some internal controversy. Now with how both Piastri and Alonso bailed it increases my feeling that someone inside the team or surrounding Renault parent organization is rubbing folks the wrong way. IDK may just be French culture.
So I'm seeing reports that Ricciardo will NOT be signing with Alpine/Renault. And Mini Schumi opined that he may be out of F1.
Which does confirm two new seats in F1 for 2023.
2026 engine rules are finally set. No engines on the turbos, but more storage and usage of the hybrid system. I bet we get real announcements from Audi and Porsche soon.
In reply to alfadriver :
So Ric to HAAS, Williams either Nick or Logan, and Schumi out, then the off the wall rumor of Alpine/Renault paying big bucks for Vettel?

I'm a little disappointed to see the MGU-H go, it seems like such cool idea to pull extra energy out of the turbo system and be able to put extra energy back in for instant spool. It will be interesting to see if the cars get heavier with the larger motor and presumably battery to go along with it as well as the different, separate packaging of the systems.
Short Video Summary (F1 won't let me embed it)
In reply to adam525i :
Technically, they are cool. In reality, they are super expensive and are almost impossible to justify when a direct hybrid drive does a better job delivering torque.
Basically, they are being removed as they will not see any significant production. And F1s big push is to be sustainable and lead applicable technology.
