Flat tire on the RX8, trying to get back to my crash pad on fix-a-flat but need the tire repaired or replaced before I can go home Friday.

Need a good tire shop 'cos I don't really want to deal with a clueless chain store.

Custom Alignment in Mountain View is quite good at mounting, balancing and alignment but don't sell tires.
BTM as well.

I always get my tires from TireRack so never bought locally.

Start making calls. Or maybe try craigslist and see if an RX8 owner is selling wheels and tires and if you can buy one.

5 Points tire in Redwood City. They mount and balance all my stuff

In reply to amg_rx7:

Do you know if they repair tires as well? Good idea re CL, although I'd have to buy a pair of tires/wheels as I run slightly bigger than stock RS-3s on it.

Thanks, I'll give them a shout. Slightly further than I ideally wanted to drive (I'm off 17 above Los Gatos) but I take a good shop over one that's closer any day.

Custom Alignment is good but kind of expensive, and they usually have a long wait for an appointment.

I usually just go to Wheel Works, they've been great.

Thanks for all the suggestions, unfortunately I ended up having to use a mobile tire service as the fix-a-flat wouldn't allow the tire to hold air long enough to drive any meaningful distance. Which wasn't a surprise given that the tire guys pulled one of these beauties out of the tire:

I ended up using these guys who someone managed to wrangle their box truck up here (really narrow road), and had the tire off, problem diagnosed and plugged/patched in no time for reasonable money. Yes, it was considerably more expensive than going to a tire store, but that was because of their callout fee, not because of the cost of the repair. It was also a moot point because it was either a callout to AAA to get to a tire store during work hours, or these guys who were happy to show up at 7:15pm.
