This adapter plate has been gathering dust under my workbench for years, honestly don't recall how or why I acquired it, but it's time for it to go. I plan to put it up eBay, but trying to figure out exactly what engine block and transmission bellhousing it fits. At first I was thinking Ford small block because of the location of the starter hole, but the bolt pattern is all wrong for a Ford (the two top holes on a Ford are straight across and level). The single center bolt hole at the top of the pattern and the symmetry of the 2 larger holes (locating dowels?) at the 3 and 9 o'clock position make me think Chevy small block, but the outer bolt pattern for the transmission is huge, no clue as to what it could be. The two nuts welded to it at the top are 9 1/4" inches apart on center.

Any ideas?

Engine side is definitely chevy v8.

i would be interested prior to ebaying it even if you never find out the transmission side, looks like i can use it for a potential $2000 challenge adaptation

If you can use it for a Challenge project, it's yours, just pay the shipping.

Part of me wants to say that it adapts a Chevy engine to a Ford FE transmission.

Which,if true, means one could adapt a Chevy to an ultrarare Ford-pattern T10, for the ultimate in "because I could" useless swaps.  More likely it would be good to adapt to a Toploader, which would have made sense in the 60s, not so much nowadays when a good Toploader is worth silly money compared to the options available that can bolt right up to a Chevy.
