So some of you know the back story behind this one but here are the basics.
1999 LE5 swapped Miata. 5 speed, torsen, VMax extreme coilovers. No AC. Soft top delete. No-name race seats. Hard Dog roll bar. NB2 wheels with BFG street tires and 15x10” Jongbloed track wheels with 245/40 RC-1 tires.
160K on chassis, 100K on motor. Approx 170-180 hp. Very clean swap. No rust that I can see.
So what value do we put on the car? I was thinking $7,000 but don’t know.
Here is my conundrum. I took this car as a trade for the rough monster Miata and it works great BUT, it’s really a track build. It’s loud, buzzy, hot, and pretty uncomfortable. The motor swap sends me to SSM or worse for autocross and if i’m honest with myself that’s really where my Motorsports efforts are focused. If I could sell this one to a track guy for $7,000 I could buy something that is actually comfortable for daily use and in a softer PAX category.
Thoughts?

Good question. I was loving it until I saw the A/C delete. Does the engine change prevent it from being a Spec Miata starter?
It would be close to 10k to build one. 7k is reasonable price i would think
In reply to Ian F :
I have the lines for AC. It would need a new condenser and a compressor from a BMW.
But even with AC it buzzes and rattles pretty heavily, the PO did VERY stiff motor mounts and a balance shaft delete (because race car). It is nice to shift from 2nd to 3rd without wondering if i’ll end up in 5th.

Try asking on this Ecotoec Miata Swap facebook page, or at least browse around there and see if anyone says what they've spent on their Miatas. $7K doesn't seem out of line, but it's a limited market.
EDIT: Never mind, I just browsed and found the car already there.

In reply to KyAllroad (Jeremy) :
Ok... now for my stupid question: What's a LE5? Why does it need a compressor from a BMW?
In reply to Ian F :
LE5 is GM speak for 2.4 liter 4 cylinder engine (this one from a 2006 Pontiac G6)
Apparently when installing a normally transverse motor in a Miata some clever soul discovered that a BMW AC compressor was a direct bolt in. I have no more useful knowledge than that, just what I was told by the guy who did the swap.
Following this one. I just lost my 99 in a car accident and have been looking for the replacement. I'll keep this in mind.

The vibrations I have heard is the big downside of the ecotec motors. I think your best bet is going to be track focused forums, maybe even someone looking for something to turn into an endurance car. The issue is power wise you can find turbo cars for less than 7k that will make more power (however not as track reliable). I definitely don't think you will get any traction going over 7,000
What about working with what you've got? Try softer motor mounts, add the balance shaft back, get AC working, etc? It looks like a great car and it seems a shame not to try to make it work for you. Those three things seem like they could be knocked out in a few weekends.

In reply to KyAllroad (Jeremy) :
Oh... Well, a different engine manufacturer means it won't be in SSM. I believe it would be E-Mod.
In reply to Ian F :
Weren't there talks of changing that rule? Or did that fall through?
Even then it's still probably not making enough power to be competitive in SSM.
was that built by Frank Parker in Saline MI?
$0
But I don't like cars with swapped engines that aren't well supported.
The whole "AC is easy it just needs this simple thing" tells me all I need to know about how the car was built.
