A long time ago, one of my closest college friends told me that the new Civic always looks like the Accord that came before it.
It's been 18 years since he said that, and Honda is continuing to prove him right.
About the size of an outgoing Accord, too.
For lulz, park an early 90s Accord next to a newer Civic.
On the other hand, this trend seems to have slowed down/stopped because people just buy a truck if they want big, and it seems like most Hondas I see are CRVs and Pilots. So there may be a market incentive to keep cars car-sized, kind of like when Caddy discovered that people weren't buying CTSs (a 5 series sized car at a 3 series sized price) because people shopping that segment WANTED a smaller car. Then we got the ATS.
Just bring back the CRX already
Not overly fond of the looks, but at least the greenhouse looks like it has gotten bigger. Hopefully a good sign for visibility.
Looks good. Kudos to Honda for addressing the major shortcomings of the current design. I especially like how the rocker panel and bumper meet the rear tire. Looking forward to seeing what the Si and R look like.

I don't recall Honda ever being known for original styling cues.

It looks like they talked the last generation of Civics exterior designer out of product into into doing the videos on this one.
That is a nice looking if very derivative sedan.
I like it. It looks like an A3/S3, and that is not a bad thing.
Better than the last one, but I've seen moldy bread that looked better so YMMV there.
Shocking newsflash: bobzilla has nothing nice to say about a Honda!
Unless I missed it, is the coupe dead? Is it just the sedan and hatch now?
With that big greenhouse they could build a CRX that's as much a fishbowl as the original was. Shorten it by the length of the rear seat and do a new hatchback/tapered rear end. It has to be faithful to the advantages CRXes had over Civics originally - ten miles per hour and that super-sharp feel.

"...a five door hatch wouldn't have been that much of a stretch, either..."
It almost sounds like you didn't read the copy. Unlike the outgoing model, there will no longer be coupe variants available, the 4 door sedan seen here, and a 5 door hatch are the body styles that the U.S. and Canada will be getting. (Some markets were getting a sort of 5 door/wagonish body style called the Tourer. No idea if European and Asian markets will continue to get that body style.)

not true. I said it was better than the last one. That's something nice.
EDIT: It doesn't look bad. It's not something I'd personally buy but it looks decent.

Ah - got me on a technicality!
I'm just ribbin' ya btw.

So, its a copy of the Nissan Sentra?

You shut your dirty mouth.
I like the front. The rear isn't bad, but I think I prefer the outgoing model. I'm in the minority that really liked the styling of the current car though. Also, thanks to Honda for offering good colors.
IMHO the Sentra's body looks busier than the Civic's. Honestly, I like it. I like it a LOT more than the current body style.

The rear looks a lot like the Kia I have sitting in my driveway as well. More than the Sentra, I think.
And all of them look like the Audi A3/S3.

Much less ugly. But honestly, that was very easy to do.
Good grief, yet another car company succumbs to catfish fever for their front end design, where the hell did this trend come from ??? Oh please, let it pass soon, I keep having nightmares about the catfish in my pond in a feeding frenzy.........
AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH !!!!!!!!
Predator Mouth evolved into Catfish Face
Dear Honda,
Bring back the Fit. I see more Fits than Civics on the road (at least round here).
