Looks like the Civic is the new Accord, which isn't a bad thing.

I mean, to me, it seems like it's got a lot of "2nd Gen" Accord design influence

You just made me want a blue interior in the worst way. I love blue Honda interiors. So much blue.

As with them all, they just keep getting bigger and bigger

If I couldn't see the model call-out on the rear, I'd think this was an Accord.

Those were just such spectacularly good cars at doing regular car things.

More conservative than the current offering, which is appreciated.  Wonder what the drivetrain offerings will be though.  I test drove the previous generation and hated the turbo lag.

Will also be curious what the hatch looks like, and if it'll be a functional hatch or a HINO (hatch in name only) like the current one.

I dig it.

The narrow headlights remind me of the EF.

I would much rather look at a pleasantly designed appliance than live with this every day:

I had one of those: blue on blue. (Of course, I only have a b/w photo of it.)

Accords and Civics - that's what they do. Rinse and repeat each generation. Pretty sure this one is bigger than an early accord.

You really ought to check out the '21 Speed Queen.  Totally blows the Maytag out of the water.

All manufacturers do that. New cars are most often introduced at the low end and get "improved" with each generation until the largest model is discontinued and a new small model is introduced.

I wonder how a new Corolla dimensions compare to the OG Camry.

In reply to Duke :

What's the commonly accepted rationale? Brand loyalty but people want bigger cars as they age? It can't just be from the necessity of safety add-ons or there wouldn't be any such thing as a small car anymore, right?

It's so the marketing department can claim each new generation is bigger and better than the previous generation.
