that stutter, make sure the TPS is clean. It's probably a spot it spends alot of time at so when it's there, the signal gets all mucky and the computer goes all wonky. those are technical terms.

Clean the contacts within the throttle position sensor? Does it move?

A tps is basically a little arm wiping across a long resistor. They're simple devices but getting inside them without breaking anything isn't always easy. Good thing they're usually cheap!

Maybe I'll just order a new one first, unless there's a way to test it?  Does anyone else have any ideas for diagnosis?

Day trip to the Christmas Valley sand dunes.  This is the quietest and smoothest thing I've ever driven down a gravel road at 55mph.

TPS has a 5v supply, a ground, and a signal return. Even without a pinout you can pretty much figure out which is which by process of elimination. With key on one should have 5v and one should have ~.6-1v at idle and sweep cleanly to 4.2-5v at WOT. The ground is the other wire. With the key off it should have low ohms to ground.
