Car to the right is a newer Altima. Love the looks of old 911s, not sure I would feel good hooning one given how much they've appreciated recently

I keep reminding myself that 911's have become way over priced for what they really are, but damn, I sure love this one.

Last year I got blown away on a highway double-lane flyover by a Ruf Turbo R. I was hauling through there in my WRX, look in the rearview and see a low yellow car, and he went by me like nothing. I was probably doing 80....it was pretty ridiculous.

I was at a British car show when a dirty hippy looking guy pulled in driving an original Ford GT40. A week later the same guy showed up at a C.O.M. track day at New Hampshire Speedway and drove the thing on track. Never saw him or the car again. He seemed like a really cool down to earth guy. He said he had recently sold an internet startup for millions and just wanted a GT40 to play with.

dad's 83 with no weight saving mods besides: ac delete, corbeau A4's, SSI 70's headers, bb exhaust and some miscellaney came in at 2600# with half a fuel tank...

since the RUF was an older car (no galvanic coating or any of the extra protection stuff.) and they did some weight saving stuff it's very easy to believe the weight.

I find the hp number pretty unbelievable though.

The Maine PCA chapter does a show on Mackworth Island to benefit the Baxter School for the Deaf every summer, and I drooled over this car and spoke to the owner briefly at the 2014 show. Many nice Porsches at that event, but this one was the most impressive.

Beautiful car. We had one recently for a state inspection that looked shiny and new but was a rusted tub underneath the shiny Maaco paint. Shame

In reply to Cotton:

On a 911 turbo or 930 the tail is called a "turbo tail," has the vertical rubber lip around the perimeter and yes, houses the intercooler. I misspoke earlier; the white car in this thread has a "Carrera tail" which does not have room for an intercooler. The original was called the "whale tail" on the first, non-intercooled 911 turbos and, you guessed it, it also did not have room for an intercooler. The little grill on the whale tail is for an oil cooler.

I was expecting a report similar to what I saw at the gas station yesterday.

Well dressed guy pulls up to a gas pump in a newer Porsche, and proceeds to pull up so the pump is at the drivers side rear of the car. He then gets out and proceeds to walk back and forth looking at both sides of the car looking for the gas cap. I snickered a bit while standing in line watching this, and by the time I got outside he had backed up and moved to another pump so it was closer to the front of the passenger side. Only thoughts were A. Dude needs to drive his car more, B. Dude has more money than brains, or C. Dude seriously needs to not borrow someone's car without a rundown on how to drive/take care of it.

Was worth a chuckle to me.

To the O.P. That thing is bad ass! I would drive it.

I have a bunch of cars and don't always remember which side the fuel filler is on a lot of them. On the 911s, ac beetles, and and old cars where it is behind the plate, sure because it's in a fairly unique location, but on the others alot of times I'm looking in the mirrors on the way to the pump to see if I can spot the filler. I really like the cars that have the arrow in the gauge cluster and tells you where it is.

Possibly stupid question: Why does the plate say "combination" ? Doesn't that usually mean tractor/trailer?

In Maine combination means combined private and commercial registration. If the guy runs an automotive business, then maybe he uses the car to promote the business, hence a combination registration.

About the guy who pulled up on the wrong side of the pump in his newish Porsche... It's spring, give him a break :). My S2000 filler is on the drivers side and the Volvo is on the passenger side, without fail I will pull up on the wrong side of the pump once or twice the first few weeks I have the S on the road.
