Slant Six Day!

Yes, it includes the 170 and 198 versions. G or RG, we don't discriminate.

used to have a '69 Plymouth with a slant 6 … I've driven a LeMons car that had a slant 6 … a BMW 325 (I think) with a slant 6 and the push button transmission

The Slant Six has to be one of the most durable engines ever, capable of withstanding abuse that would melt down most modern engines. I'll bet it will even stand up to those turbos!

Unfortunately, the answer is "in pieces because my Chevy project has been taking up too much time." Hopefully that one will be wrapped up soon, and I can get back to work on the Dart!

OK, I have officially celebrated Slant Six Day by learning something I never knew before: Offenhauser makes stuff for /6s. Anybody know anything about such stuff?

And what's up with that red one??

I drove a slant six dodge aspen for a while.

The car finally retired with 375K on it. the engine was still running, but using oil faster than gas, and the pressure plate gave up, so it got scrapped.

My first car should have been the '71 Demon I grew up with (parents bought it in '72). When I turned 16 I did a bunch of work to fix the rust. Sadly, I ran out of time and talent and it was towed away. What I'd give to have that car back.

(by pure coincidence, I happened to post this at 2:25 PM )

It looks like a Chrysler Hemi 6 used in the Chargers from the land down under.

Don't forget the 225, a 1" stoke on the 170. But for sheer fun the 170 I had in a 1960 Valiant would wind to 7'200 rpm's after a little work. It would chirp the tires shifting into 2nd with the auto. I recall an article by Tom McCahill in Popular Mechanics where he had one over 125 mph at Daytona.

Mine is located roughly 30 feet to my right. I consider my '75 Duster simply a container for the glorious Slant-6 that inhabits the engine bay.

The Hemi 6 looks significantly different.

The red one might be the sliced-and-epoxied 5.7 headed mockup/hoax/experiment? that was talked about a few years ago over at Slantsix.org.

I don't currently have a 225, but there's a 170 & 198 in the shed. A 225 in a friend's Dart will probably join the other two later this year...

I have the 225 in the '64 Valiant it originally came in, and most of a '64 170 on an engine stand in the garage.

The Valiant will get a cruise tonight, if just to Sonic and back.

JMHO.... the BMW is pure porn... no doubt... BUT when conditions get BAD... That BMW mill is more likely to break first.
