We use planetary gearboxes on equipment at work, but I've never been able to picture them properly until now. I watched this video on youtube, thought it was super helpful, and figured it might be useful for others as well:
Couple questions though, that someone with more knowledge than me might be able to answer:
1) Is it possible to get 7 speeds out of these Alison's if you continue the sequence? He stopped at fixing/holding the C4 clutch for 6th, what would happen if he did the same with the C5?
2) Kinda related - how do you arrive at the "useless" overdrive and underdrive ratios with a single planetary stage?
