Surprised we haven't had a thread on this yet. Looks like Mercedes is making a competitor for the Aston-Martin Valkyrie, with an actual detuned F1 powertrain with both KERS and TERS. Stroke is increased and compression is decreased, the rev limit is dropped to 11krpm, the engine can start without preheating, and the engine will go 30k miles between rebuilds. Price is about $2.5m:

ICE power is 750hp and electric power is 250hp, from both the KERS motor on the ICE and two more F1 KERS motors on the front wheels.

The aero isn't nearly as serious as the Valkyrie's, which won't be good for cornering speeds, but the driven front wheels could give it better acceleration.

Sort looks like a modern CLK-GTR, and I love the CLK-GTR.

Anyway, other manufacturers (Pagani and Lamborghini figured this out a while ago) have finally realized that super low production ultra high priced "special editions" bring in more money than normal production lines for low volume manufacturers. I suspect we'll be seeing more of these types of projects in the future.

This thing was shown for the first time today.

To me, it looks much better in the renderings than it does in the photos. It reminds me more of a cross between a Noble and a McLaren MP4-12C than an ultra exotic Benz though:

I won't be interested in this Mercedes until I hear some guy in Houston is repairing one in his Grosh.

I'm sitting by my phone waiting for the call to go road test it and then take it apart.

I think it's meant to look like the CLK-GTR but something's a bit off about the front. It has a bit of a krill grille going on. If they'd brought the grille backward some more, so it doesn't project forward so much, and reduced or at least downplayed the size it would've looked better.
