I don't think an OBD1 or the ALDI type interface motor swap would be that complicated electrically, but what about newer stuff? Like the 97-up OBDII vehicles? Is getting the dash and AC to work a big deal? Specifically, say, just for bench racing purposes, putting a ST205 3SGTE motor into a 97-2000 RAV4. Strictly for the sake of argument, of course, and not that I would ever consider anything so foolish.

I have been putting thoughts into an LS into my disco with the 4.6 goes pop. As the 4.6 is based on a buick engine, I am hoping I can slide the whole thing in under the existing FI and with some machining to mount a few sensors.. be good to go

I don't think that will work, mm. I'm going to bet the fuel maps are totally different there. You'll have to go with some type of stand alone ECU or a GM ECU stuck somewhere.
