I've got a teardown upcoming on one of my more extensively modified bikes, and I'm almost certainly going to be doing some major engine work in addition to a lot of general cosmetic cleaning up. I'm thinking of going EFI, even though I'm a lot more comfortable with carbs. Why not, right? But I need some recommendations for places to start reading up on MicroSquirt, hopefully with some motorcycle-specific applications.

Suggestions?

While the Microsquirt does have its own manual, it often references the main Megasquirt manual so you will want to take a look at both:

They're a good starting point; let me know if you have any specifics you're looking for information on. The main difference with bike motors is the higher redline and that you very rarely see a distributor on one.

This is a late-'80s Honda V-Twin, so it has electronic ignition already. Dunno if that makes my life easier or harder. And it's only got an 8.5k-ish redline at the moment, but that may raise with the build, depending on the direction I take.

Thanks for the links. I'm sure I'll have more questions.

Probably easier. You'll want to start by figuring out how exactly the ignition is triggered, if it's one trigger tooth per coil or some sort of missing tooth wheel.

You'll need to log in to post.
