If my timing belt went on my 97 miata are my valves damaged?

Shouldn't be, Miata is non-interference.

Nope. Throw on a new belt and go.

Not unless you were running RPM's high enough to float your valves. And I've never heard of that happening on a Miata.

One of the many reasons why Miata is always the answer. You can't break 'em.

I've floated valves and collapsed a lifter. Took me several years, though. Stock 1.6 valvetrain, 8000 rpm redline. They start to float around 7800 or so
